5 Tips to put you on the Path to Healthy Hair

Whatever type of hair you’ve got, keeping it healthy and in great condition will ensure that it always looks its best. We all have different hair concerns and areas that cause us problems on a daily basis.

However, regardless of your specific hair concerns, there are a number of basic steps that you should follow in order to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

Here are our five top tips to put you on the right path to healthy hair…

1. Vitamins and minerals

Certain nutrients such as vitamins, iron, and proteins are essential for healthy hair. Some of these can be obtained by eating a healthy, balanced diet, including plenty of fish, nuts, seeds, vegetables, eggs, beans, and water.

However, there are a number of vitamin and mineral supplements for hair that can help to put you on the path to healthy hair.

Look out for ingredients such as Keratin (the key structural component of your hair and nails), amino acids, and cystine to rejuvenate, revitalise, and replenish your hair.

2. Safe sleeping

We all know that we need 8 hours beauty sleep if we want to wake up looking refreshed and revived. But did you know that sleep can actually damage your hair?

To stay on the path to healthy hair, make sure you never sleep with wet hair. After all, wet hair is very fragile and breaks easily, and the friction between your hair and your pillow can cause breakage.
In addition to this, you should also try to sleep on satin pillow covers in order to reduce friction and breakage.

3. Wash your hair the right way

Although many people believe that they need to wash their hair every day to keep it looking fresh, healthy, and shiny, washing your hair too much can actually damage it – stripping the natural oils out of your hair and leaving it weak and vulnerable.
You should also finish your hair wash with a rinse in cold water to seal the hair cuticles and lock in moisture.

4. Avoid Damage

In the quest for healthy hair, it’s always advisable to avoid damaging your hair as far as possible.

From washing your hair with silicon shampoo, through to exposing your hair to ultra violet rays, there are many factors in your day-to-day life that can damage your hair. And, of course, brushing, styling, and drying your hair can all cause significant damage too. Try and avoid applying excessive heat to your hair and always use a heat protection spray.

5. Don’t use too many products

With so many different products lining the shelves, it’s easy to get stuck in the trap of using far too many hair products. But, whilst products can provide some great short terms results, if you use too much, they can also leave your hair looking greasy, dull, limp, or lifeless.

Rather than layering product upon product, try to focus on four core productsshampoo, conditioner, styler, and finisher, and make sure they’re the right products for your hair concerns.
