Winter Hair Care Tips Every Woman Should Know

Struggling with split ends? Is your hair dry and frizzy?

Winter takes its toll on your hair and skin. In the cold season, hair loses its luster and becomes dull. Your scalp suffers too. Split ends, frizzy hair, flaky scalp, and dandruff are quite common during this time of the year. However, this doesn’t mean you have to fall victim to winter breakage.

Check out these simple winter hair care tips to keep your tresses looking flawless this season:

1. Cover Your Hair

The best way to protect your hair from rain, snow, and sun is to wear a hat or scarf on the head. This can help prevent frizzy, static-prone hair and enhance your look. Hats are all the rage this season, so choose one that complements your outfit and personality.

2. Take Supplements

Beauty comes from the inside out. Certain nutrients, such as biotin and omega-3s, can strengthen your hair and prevent dry scalp. Essential fats acids help attract and hold moisture in your hair, nourish the scalp, and reduce inflammation. Ideally, you should choose a formula that provides the best vitamins for hair, including vitamin C, vitamin D, niacin, biotin, and pantothenic acid.

3. Make Smart Food Choices

What you eat influences how your hair looks. A diet based on junk food and sugary treats can deplete your body of vital nutrients, causing dry hair, dull skin, and premature aging. Your meals should consist of whole foods, such as citrus fruits, squash, leafy green vegetables, raw nuts, seeds, fatty fish, and lean meat. The secret to thick, strong strands is all about a healthy diet for hair.

4. Keep Your Hair Moisturized

Hair breakage is often caused by lack of moisture. To prevent this problem, apply a deep conditioning treatment on your hair and scalp once a week. Make your own hair mask using olive oil, coconut oil, argan oil, lemon juice, and other natural ingredients. If you prefer to use commercial products, choose an alcohol-free formula. Don’t wash your hair more than two or three times a week. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and keep your hair moisturized.

5. Trim your hair

To avoid dry hair, splitting ends trim your hair every 6 to 8 weeks particularly during the cold winter months.
